Raw Material Issues

Sand cement plastering requires river sand mixed with cement in a 1:3 or 1:4 ratio. River sand extraction has been heavily regulated across India, leading to widespread use of M-sand (manufactured sand). Labour Intensity

Stable Raw Material

Gypsum is a naturally occurring mineral available in large deposits. Unlike cement which requires energy-intensive kiln processing, gypsum requires relatively simple heating. The deposits are vast and there is no shortage risk. Gypsum plaster arrives pre-mixed in bags — no on-site sand or aggregate required.

Labour Efficiency

Gypsum requires only mixing with water — no sand sourcing, ratio mixing, or on-site batching. Application is faster (sets in 25–30 minutes) and requires less labour per sq ft. One skilled applicator working with gypsum can plaster more area per day than a cement plaster team.

No Curing Required
